Privacy Policy Pedal — Customer & Partner Apps
This Privacy Policy explains how Pedal ("Pedal", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our mobile applications and services, including the Pedal customer app and the Pedal Partner driver app (together, the "Apps" or the "Service").
By using the Apps, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
This Policy applies to two types of users:
- Customers — people who use the Pedal app to request and receive deliveries.
- Partners (Drivers) — people who use the Pedal Partner app to accept and fulfil delivery requests.
1. Who We Are
The Service is operated by Pedal. If you have any questions about this Policy or your data, contact us at support@pedal.com.
2. Information We Collect
a) Information you provide to us
- Account information (all users): name, phone number, email address, profile photo, date of birth, and password.
- Identity verification (Partners): For identity verification, partners provide a selfie photograph taken at registration. This selfie is used only for manual identity verification against the government-issued ID. It is not used for facial recognition, facial geometry, or any biometric matching.
- Partner documents (Partners): identity documents, driving licence, vehicle registration (RC), insurance, PAN, Aadhaar, and bank details, used for onboarding, verification, payouts, and legal compliance.
- Delivery and order information (all users): pickup and drop-off addresses, parcel details, delivery proof photos, ratings, and reviews.
- Communications: messages and support requests you send through the App.
b) Information collected automatically
- Precise GPS location (see Section 3), device model, operating system, IP address, app version, crash logs, and usage data.
- Push notification tokens via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18.
3. Location Data
- Customers: we use location to set pickup/drop-off points and show the status of a delivery.
- Partners: we collect precise location, including in the background while you are online and on an active delivery, so that customers can track the delivery and so we can match you to nearby requests. Background location collection stops when you go offline. You can disable location permissions at any time in your device settings, though this will limit core functionality.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and verify your identity.
- Match deliveries between customers and partners and process them end to end.
- Process payments and partner payouts.
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- Send service-related and, where permitted, promotional notifications.
- Maintain safety and security, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve and troubleshoot the Service.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Between customers and partners to complete a delivery (e.g. a customer sees the assigned partner's name, photo, vehicle, and live location; a partner sees the pickup/drop-off details and customer contact for the active order).
- With service providers that help us run the Service, such as Google Maps (mapping and navigation), Stripe (payments), and Firebase (notifications, analytics, crash reporting).
- With authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users or the public.
The identity-verification selfie is never shared with third parties; it remains on our own infrastructure for manual verification only.
6. Data Retention
- We retain data as long as your account is active and as required by law, typically up to 7 years for trip records and KYC documents.
- The identity-verification selfie photograph is retained only while the account is active and is permanently deleted when the user deletes their account.
- When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data except where we are legally required to retain certain records.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You can:
- Access and correct your data from within the App.
- Delete your account at any time directly in the App (Profile → Delete Account). This permanently removes your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements above.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
- Manage device permissions (location, camera, notifications) in your device settings.

8. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to authorised personnel only.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the App or by other means. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
